My own solution, after experiencing frequent problems with high bandwith connections to a ZWO 174MC camera, with many powered hubs and extender cables, was to use a Startech industrial USB3 hub located at the foot of my (older) EQ8 in a weatherproof enclosure, and run power and USB3 to that. If you have a reference to any informed online discussion about this issue I'd be interested. Obviously, minimising the length of connecting USB cable to that connector would be mandatory. The connector at the base of the polar axis will have this effect. I do know that introducing cable breaks into USB3 runs adds variable amounts of additional impedence. I myslef know nothing about that hub, nor am I aware of anyone having upgraded the hub card. Not many folk on this list possess the newer EQ8's, and most folk are uncomfortable about getting involved with the engineering. HNY to you too, Jean-Francois! Your core question seems to be about experience with the new EQ8's USB hub, and with poor bandwidth when running USB3 hardware through it. I read somewhere that somebody dismount the power and the USB 3.0 cables from the mount and install new cable/hub through the mount axis.

How to solve it ? … change the hub card ? Has somebody the same problems with USB 3.0 hardware (camera) ? I do the hub test with an extern 12V power… so that the hub is internally powered. No USB 3.0 hardware seems to works with the mount.īoth USB 3.0 camera are working (but with slower data transfer) when I connect it on my computer USB 2.0 connector. I test with different USB 2.0 hardware (USB stick, USB 2.0 camera), it works with these hardware. I connect 2 different USB 3.0 camera (Atik Horizon-C and QHY-174) and an extern drive and all three are not working with the hub. GSS gives a RA coordinate difference of 6 hours, when I initialize the mount with the hand controller (or SynScan software) before the use with GSS.Īfter that the mount is used first with GSS and works, then if I change to SynScan software, the coordinates are wrong in SynScan. GSS works good, if the mount starts from the home position without any initialization.
